I have been teaching pilates in Saffron Walden since I qualified with The Body Control Pilates Association in 2002.
I teach because I am passionate about movement patterns, how both negative and positive ones are created through daily activities. My Pilates training provides me with a great foundation with which to improve clients body awareness and increase their physical confidence.
In some instances movement needs to be guided, particularly during individual sessions. A rigorous training in holistic massage and reflexology, from many years ago, where my passions first began, has been invaluable.
Classes and one-to-ones need to have a functional element so that work can be integrated into busy lifestyles and not be treated as something separate.
A primary focus is breathing techniques. Initially honed from 25 years of yoga training, started originally to improve my asthma, then supplemented by Pilates, I now no longer suffer, so feel the need to pass this valuable lesson on! For me correct breathing holds the key to a relaxed, yet strong and flowing body.
Above all, my aim is to encourage a sense of well being and positivity through postural awareness, muscle balance and good breathing techniques.
I undergo continual professional development, as part of my membership with The Body Control Pilates Association, which keeps my skills and knowledge up to date and relevant.
I am a Level 3 member of Register of Exercise Professionals.
